Christian Book Of The Year – The Daniel Plan By Rick Warren

The Daniel Plan: 40 days to a healthier life book is written by the mega-church pastor Rick Warren in association with doctors Mark Hyman and Daniel Amen. The book is a program to become healthier, it incorporates faith, fitness, food, friends and focus into healthier living. According to the authors “If you do not have faith in God to help you get healthy, all you are left with is willpower, and the willpower does not last very long”. Chapter 10 in The Daniel Plan book includes a 40 day meal plan and 53 recipes with the basics of any healthy diet: no gluten, sugar, diary or artificial anything.

At an award ceremony in Tennessee, this book was named the Christian book of the year. The award was announced at the ECPA – Evangelical Christian Publisher Association’s annual banquet. The Christian Book Awards are one of the long-standing and most prestigious in religious publishing. The main author of the book, Rick Warren started the plan in 2011 when he noticed that a lot of people in his congregation are overweight. On its own leadership, nearly 15,000 members of the church took up the challenge and lost over 113,000 kilograms in weight in the first year.
