You have a beautiful garden and you are enjoying this beauty during the whole day long. It is your most favourite place to relax and catch up some sun. But what about the nights? Summer is the best time of the year when you can enjoy drinking margaritas with your friends or partner while relaxing on that comfortable outdoor sofa. Your next project should be making your yard look as beautiful at night as it does during the day. You do not need much. Just the garden lighting that will suit your outdoor area. With the right choice of outdoor lighting, you can complement the different flowers, plants, and landscaping in your garden and thus transform this place in a perfect area that can be used for many different purposes, including garden parties.

Light your pathways

You organized your firs garden party and a friend of you has just stepped on a clump of dirt. He will certainly feel unconformable and so are you. Maybe it is not the worst experience, but why not illuminate your pathways and avoid such situations to happen. You can find a vast array of garden path lighting to suit your needs and your garden style. You can buy garden bollard lights, recessed lights, strip lights, spotlights, lanterns all coming in different styles, colours, and materials. Once you make a choice of lights, you need to find their perfect place. Lanterns, spotlights and garden bollard lights can be placed just about anywhere around your pathway while strip lights give you less choice about spacing. If you have a raised pathway, you can place the lights under the edge. This will not provide your pathway with direct light but you can still clearly see where you are going. Do not forget to light your steps and stairways (if there are any) but keep in mind not to place the lights directly into the eyes. Their purpose is to illuminate the ground, not to shine directly into your face.

Accentuate the features

Are there some beautiful and unique trees or bushes in you garden that you want to highlight? Carefully placing a spotlight in front of a tree can set off your garden perfectly. This way you will draw attention to your tree and provide that extra amount of lighting for more practical uses like being able to see what is your garden. You can go with different colours if you want. This will give your garden an extra artistic look. Choose colours that will perfectly fit with the style of your garden and house. Strip lights or rope lights are a great choice if you want to light the edges of your garden beds. This is also a great idea since illuminating that border will make it easy for you and your guests to see where the garden beds end.

Highlight water elements

Does your garden feature any water element? If so, why not highlight it with the right choice of lighting and make it more beautiful and unique than it is. For a small pond, use white, simple lights and place them in the middle of a few pond lilies or between some rocks. If you want the moonlight to be one that will reflect in the pond, then use the light around the edge, not inside the pond. Remember, if you want to highlight the pond, keep it simple. Too many lights inside and outside can break the appearance and the pond will lost its beauty. If you have a pool, then give this water element a touch of luxury just by placing pool lights. For those who have fountain should, garden lights should be placed right where the water is moving for the best possible impact.
